Transport

Locks in rivers or in canals have got a long tradition. They allow inland navigation on smaller rivers and canals and have thus created profitable and environmentally friendly means of transportation.

The different types of lock gates used to be operated by mechanical drives. However, with the advancing development of hydraulics, new locks were gradually equipped with hydraulic drives and later on old mechanical drives were replaced accordingly. Good examples among others are the locks on the Kiel Canal as well as on the rivers Danube, Main, Neckar and Mosel.
Bosch Rexroth also supplied the first hydraulic drives replacing the old mechanical ones for the mitre gates and the culvert gates on the Panama Canal.

Besides the compact build of hydraulic solutions the customer herewith obtains considerable savings regarding maintenance and repair.
